Phoenix Rising is a trauma-informed coaching program that provides:

  • Practical tools and techniques for self-directed healing

  • Community support from others on a healing journey

  • Guidance based on lived experience and evidence-based practices

What Phoenix Rising Is NOT

Phoenix Rising is NOT:

  • ❌ Therapy, psychotherapy, or counseling

  • ❌ Medical treatment or clinical mental health care

  • ❌ A substitute for professional mental health services

  • ❌ Diagnosis, treatment, or prevention of any medical or psychiatric condition

  • ❌ Crisis intervention or emergency mental health services

  • ✅ B.S. in Psychology, M.A. in Adult Learning & Development

  • ❌ A medical doctor or healthcare provider

  • ❌ Qualified to diagnose or treat mental health conditions

  • ❌ A substitute for your healthcare providers

WHEN TO SEEK PROFESSIONAL HELP

Phoenix Rising is designed to complement professional treatment, not replace it.

You MUST Seek Professional Help If:

  • You are experiencing suicidal thoughts or self-harm urges

  • You are in acute crisis or experiencing severe mental health symptoms

  • You have been diagnosed with a serious mental health condition requiring clinical treatment

  • You are experiencing symptoms of psychosis, mania, or severe dissociation

  • You need medication management or psychiatric care

  • You are in immediate danger to yourself or others

Every individual's healing journey is unique. What works for one person may not work for another.

Healing Is Not Linear

As we teach in The Phoenix Path:

  • Healing is cyclical, not linear

  • You may experience setbacks or difficult periods

  • Progress is not constant or predictable

  • The spiral nature of healing is normal and expected

This is not failure. This is how healing works.

What Phoenix Rising Cannot Do:

  • We cannot assess whether you are stable enough for self-directed work

  • We cannot monitor your mental health status in real-time

  • We cannot provide emergency support or crisis intervention

  • We cannot replace the individualized care of a licensed therapist

  • We cannot guarantee that our services will be helpful for you

You assume all risk associated with your participation in Phoenix Rising.

INFORMED CONSENT

By using Phoenix Rising services, you acknowledge and agree that:

You Understand:

  • Phoenix Rising is coaching, not therapy

  • Lauren Tobey is not a licensed mental health professional

  • The program is designed for self-directed healing work

  • You may need professional therapy in addition to or instead of coaching

  • Healing is not guaranteed and results vary

You Agree:

  • To seek professional help if you are in crisis or need clinical care

  • To inform your healthcare providers about your participation

  • To take responsibility for your own mental health decisions

  • To discontinue use if Phoenix Rising is not appropriate for you

  • That Phoenix Rising is not liable for any outcomes, positive or negative

You Are Eligible If:

  • You are 18 years or older

  • You are NOT in acute crisis

  • You are stable enough to engage in self-directed work

  • You understand this is not therapy

If you do not meet these criteria, Phoenix Rising is NOT appropriate for you at this time.

Limited Confidentiality

While we respect your privacy:

  • Phoenix Rising is NOT bound by HIPAA (healthcare privacy laws)

  • We are NOT bound by therapist-client privilege

  • Communications are NOT confidential in the same way therapy is

What We Protect:

  • We follow our Privacy Policy regarding your personal information

  • We will not share your information with third parties (except as required by law)

  • Community spaces have guidelines about respecting others' privacy

What We Cannot Protect:

  • We cannot guarantee absolute confidentiality

  • We may be required to disclose information if legally mandated

  • Community spaces involve sharing with other participants

Do not share information you want kept completely confidential.

COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION

Group Settings Are Not Therapy

Phoenix Rising community spaces (private groups, forums) are:

  • Peer support environments, not therapy groups

  • Moderated by Phoenix Rising, not licensed therapists

  • Places for connection, not clinical treatment

Risks of Community Participation:

  • Other participants are not mental health professionals

  • Advice from community members may not be appropriate for you

  • You may encounter triggering content

  • Confidentiality cannot be fully guaranteed in group settings

Your Responsibility in Community:

  • Follow community guidelines

  • Respect others' privacy and boundaries

  • Do not provide medical or mental health advice to others

  • Seek professional help if you need clinical support

  • Suicide, self-harm, or harm to others

  • Any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages

  • Loss of income, relationships, or opportunities

  • Emotional distress or psychological harm

Your sole remedy for dissatisfaction is to stop using our services and request a refund within the 30-day guarantee period (if applicable).

Maximum liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the specific service.

USE AT YOUR OWN RISK

By participating in Phoenix Rising, you acknowledge that:

  • You are using our services at your own risk

  • You are responsible for your own mental health decisions

  • Phoenix Rising cannot guarantee safety or positive outcomes
